Barcelona and Tarragona

A short report from when I went to Spain again last weekend! This trip was a bit less active than thelast one, mainly because it was just too hot to do anything. We did go to a town called Tarragona, about 100km from Barcelona, 15€ for a return ticket from the city center. Definitely worth checking out if you're going to spend more time in this area.Pleated Prom Dress

The beaches are absolutely stunning. Extremely calm and quiet compared to Barcelona or Sitges. Whereas I'd never leave my stuff unattended on the beach in BCN, it felt safe enough to both go into the water and just keep an eye on our belongings. Lots of families and couples on this beach.

This is a town that you can see most of within a few hours. It's really small but it has a lot of beautiful old buildings from Roman times. The area around Tarragona is supposed to be even more stunning, but alas, we can't drive.

It is too late to make much practical difference for the 2015 election (although it will help with perceptions of Ed Miliband’s leadership): most of the candidates have already been selected and I doubt if the reforms will come in in time to affect union funding for the 2015 campaign.

Daisy + Nate’s engagement session brings to mind the coming of spring. What better way to celebrate the warming days by going on a super romantic day trip? We headed to shoot Daisy + Nate with their super sweet Olive at a beautiful tree farm outside of Half Moon Bay, California.

This adorable couple could not turn off their charm the whole session. They were such good sports and were up for everything we threw at them, from hopping across tree stumps, to feeding each other organic raspberries, and of course swinging on the giant swings.view more

Haute Couture 101: Everything You Need to Know About Fashion's Most Fantastical Category

The fashion world is geared up for the haute couture shows in Paris that started earlier this week. We've shown you some of our favorite collections from Chanel and Dior haute couture - and even interviewed buzzing couture designer Zuhair Murad - so I thought it would be a good time to go back and talk about what couture means and what makes it the ultimate fashion fantasy (you know, those magnificent gowns that just happen to end up on say, the Oscars red carpet- eh hem, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway-you wear couture beautifully!)Let's have a look!

1. Haute Couture literally translates to "high dressmaking". A hand-painted silk ball skirt? An intricately beaded and boned corset? Couturiers produce the highest quality work, with garments that literally take hundreds of hours to produce by hand and are custom made for each client's figure.

2. There are only a handful of couture clients in the world. But to the fashion industry and fashion lovers, couture serves as inspiration and fantasy. Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier and Raf Simons are some of the most closely watched couturiers in the world. You will see silhouettes and details that start at couture and trickle into fashion at every price category.

3. A fashion house may be inducted into haute couture by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture if it meets certain criteria including creating made-to-order items for private clients that require one or more fittings, has an atelier based in Paris with at least 20 full time employees and presents at least 35 looks each season. Chanel, Dior, Givenchy and Stephane Rolland are in this elite, invitation only, category.

4. Some French Couturiers that you might not have heard of? Adeline Andre, Anne Valerie Hash, Christophe Josse, Franck Sorbier, Alexis Mabille, Atelier Gustavolins. Check out their collections. They will inspire and astound you.

5. Some designers outside of France are invited to participate on a revolving basis, including some names you are very familiar with, such as Elie Saab, Valentino, Atelier Versace and Armani Prive.

6. Fun fact: The first couture designer was actually an Englishman! In 1868, Charles Frederick Worth was the first designer to lead the charge as a couturier.

The couture collections are an opportunity for designers to show off what they can do and create a true fashion fantasy. These collections are all about moving fashion forward and evolving the way we think about wedding dresses uk.

Ladies, I meant to go get a pre-Fourth of July mani-pedi yesterday. I really, really did. But it didn't happen, and this pic of Reese Witherspoon out and about in L.A. is making me feel even worse about my oversight.

Reese's combo of a classic bright red manicure and an equally bright blue top proves just how easy it is to get festive with a little help from nail polish. As the first rays of sunshine hit Paris, it’s time to reach for summer turquoise. Our inspirations for this shoot are: kawaii/lolita cosplay style, and the very girly pink theme featured in the music video for "Primadonna" by Marina and the Diamonds. Personally, I felt that the overtly feminine aesthetics meshed well with her XanaduJulie Etsy, where she makes Decoden dreams come true with cute accessories and phone cases (like the one in this shoot).
